Turning old into new
The Army Family Housing project in Baumholder is a major refurbishment project in which a total of seven residential buildings are being modernised.
Most of the buildings were reduced from 24 to 16 flats in order to improve the living comfort and quality of the accommodation. The smallest building, which originally had 16 flats, was reduced to 8 flats to allow for even better utilisation and design.
The refurbishment comprises the complete interior fit-out of the buildings, including structural upgrading, as well as the complete reinstallation of the building services and electrical installations. This includes modern fire alarm systems, safety lighting and a brand new sprinkler system, which ensures increased safety. A central sprinkler tank including a pump container was installed decentrally to ensure a reliable water supply for all seven buildings.
The modernised buildings meet the latest standards of the Army Family Housing Design Guide and offer the armed forces stationed in Baumholder comfortable and modern accommodation. This not only increases security, but also significantly improves the living experience for the residents.
