Project description
The so-called "Königsbau", a residential palace for the then King Ludwig I, forms the end of the residence facing Max-Joseph-Platz. It was built between 1826 and 1835 by Leo von Klenze in the style of Florentine Renaissance palaces. Like the entire residence, the building is a listed building and is mainly used as a museum.
In the course of the refurbishment of the building, the Building in Existing Contexts department is carrying out extensive wall demolition, structural reinforcement and reinforced concrete, bricklaying and plastering work. In addition to the construction of reinforced concrete ducts in the basement, an emergency staircase is also being installed in the eastern part of the building to connect levels 5 and 6. The work is particularly challenging due to the cramped conditions and the pedestrian zone running directly past.
In addition, the transport routes within the building are up to 165 metres on nine levels. The excavation work in the basement of the residence is also being supervised by a team of archaeologists.
