Energy – Power Plant Construction
The awareness of the finite nature of fossil resources is forcing mankind to use alternative and preferably renewable energies. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG is your partner in the construction of civil engineering structures for energy generation.
Power plants are highly complex technical structures and have a decisive influence on the functioning of a national economy. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG was able to participate in the developments in power plant construction by carrying out comprehensive construction works. The lignite-fired power plant which was built by Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG in Frimmersdorf is to date the largest steam power plant in the world. We have been making our mark with the construction of hyperbolic natural draught cooling towers since 1938. To be able to meet highest requirements for the concretes used, our engineers and laboratory assistants in Langen work on comprehensive research projects.

The 178 m high hyperbolic cooling tower of the Datteln power plant is based on 36 radial supports. The shells are built of concrete with an increased resistance to acids.

In two incineration lines annually 300,000 tons of waste are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. In this way 170 million kWh electricity and 300 million kWh district heating for approx. 44,000 households in Magdeburg are generated annually.
