Milestone reached: Installation of buoyancy protection in Brunsbüttel completed

The special civil engineering team working on the new construction project for the 5th lock chamber at Brunsbüttel has reached another milestone towards realisation. The last of a total of 1,589 jet grouted piles has been successfully installed. From October 2021 to November 2022, approximately 28,000 tonnes of cement were injected into the subsoil and around 25,000 metres of GEWI steel were installed to secure the uplift of the lock chamber floor. After the acceptance test and the installation of the anchor plates, the concreting of the underwater concrete base will begin.
