Tunnel Vötting - Open Day in Freising

Hundreds of interested people took advantage of the unique opportunity to visit a tunnel under construction in Freising. In the course of the day, a large number of families took the opportunity to experience the tunnel at first hand and to explore 460 meters of it themselves. Construction machines and vehicles at the tunnel portal proved to be spectacular eye-catchers. The site team answered all the guests’ questions. At the end of the tunnel the visitors were able to look through a hole into the next construction section which will be built using the top-down method. The Vötting Tunnel, which is part of the new west bypass in the Bavarian town of Freising near Munich, will bring about an effective reduction in traffic. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau, Area South, is building the Vötting Tunnel with a contract value of approx. 25.5 million € by order of the Municipality of Freising as part of a joint venture. On January 18, the site team had already celebrated the breakthrough together with Franz Piller, the Municipality of Freising’s project manager for the west bypass, Lord Mayor Tobias Eschenbacher and the Mayors Eva Bönig and Hans Hölzl. The tunnel is to be completed by the end of 2019.
