Contract Rotterdamsebaan awarded

The BAM group companies Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG and BAM Infra were partners in a joint venture awarded the contract for the design, construction and operation of the Rotterdamsebaan motorway in the Netherlands. The four kilometer long motorway section will connect the A4/A13 motorway with the so-called „Central Zone“ of the city of The Hague. The contract value of the project amounts to more than € 300 m. The construction works will start in mid-2016. The opening to traffic is planned for spring 2020.

Rotterdamsebaan will improve the traffic connection of the city of The Hague and the surrounding region and relieve the existing Utrechtsebaan. The new traffic artery will run below ground for a section of 1.8 km and will, among others, pass under the Hadriani Forum, an archaeological site. For this purpose, two parallel road tunnels with a length of 1.65 km each will be driven in the hydroshield method.
