Tunnel under the Suez Canal
The Arab Contractors / Orascom Construction Joint Venture awarded Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG, Tunnelling Division, the contract for the construction of two road tunnels below the Suez Canal at Port Said by means of a tunnel boring machine.
The tunnels are nearly 3 km long and have a boring diameter of approx. 12 m. The contract value amounts to 18.1 m €. The works are carried out on the basis of a Service Agreement.
