Innovative foundation solution for difficult ground conditions
DSV micropiles (jet grouted micropiles or jet grouted piles) are a modern solution for structures that require particular stability and durability. They combine the advantages of classic micropiles with the efficiency of the jet grouting process (DSV), also known as high-pressure injection (HDI). Targeted soil improvement and the integration of robust steel rods result in a construction that is convincing even under the most demanding conditions. The jet grouting method, in combination with micropiles, has the advantage that it can be optimally adapted to almost any ground situation.
Technical advantages at a glance

- High load-bearing capacity:
The large DSV body (Ø approx. 1.0 m) mobilises additional soil resistance and the larger anchoring body reduces skin friction. - Robust construction:
Use of single bar steel even with low steel quality. Means less corrosion protection effort, higher economic efficiency. - Flexible use:
Ideal for horizontal loads and structures with a long service life. - Tested quality:
Load tests guarantee maximum safety.
Areas of application

Structures with high horizontal loads

5th Brunsbüttel lock chamber
Over 2,000 DSV micropiles were installed for the new lock chamber on the Kiel Canal. With a planned service life of over 100 years, jet grouted micropiles (DSV-MP) offer a particularly robust and economical solution. Instead of relying on technically complex corrosion protection, a construction with a low steel grade is used. The combination of micropile and large-volume DSV body creates tie-backs that safely absorb horizontal loads and allow only minimal deformation or expansion of the supporting structure.
Test piles: Around 20 test piles were produced as part of the project to check the design and load-bearing capacity of the DSV micropiles. Core drillings were carried out for quality control of the DSV body, which confirmed the required strength values of over 20 MPa.
In addition, test loads of up to 4,000 kN were applied to nine selected DSV micropiles.
