Symbolic starting signal for the construction of the second hall in Cottbus

With the sinking of a time capsule, the project team in Cottbus gave the symbolic starting signal for the next project phase in the construction of the new Cottbus plant. The alliance partners filled the capsule with time documents and project information and wishes from all those involved. The second hall will be over 500 metres long and 200 metres wide. Full-length ICE trains will be able to enter the hall for maintenance on four tracks, and there will also be a painting track. The second hall will go into operation in 2026 and will complete DB's largest and most modern ICE maintenance workshop. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau is a partner in the realisation of the project, which has already brought good results with the "rail partnership model" in the construction of the first hall. The project team in Cottbus is led by the two W&F senior site managers Henning Benker and Silvio Kassin. After a construction period of less than 20 months, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz opened the first hall in January together with DB CEO Dr Richard Lutz.
