New contract for the Southern Region: Phase 2 of the Oberwiesenfeld new-build housing estate in Munich

The SOW II consortium, comprising its partners Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG and ZECH Roh- und SF Bau GmbH, has been awarded the contract to construct the second phase of the new Oberwiesenfeld housing estate in Munich. The contract, worth around €23.5 million net, includes the construction of 269 flats and two childcare centres.

The client, “Stadibau GmbH”, is realising what is to date the largest state-funded new-build housing project in Munich with this project. On the site of the former architectural competition for the 2018 Winter Olympics, 611 flats for civil servants and four childcare centres are being built. The residential quarter, covering around seven hectares, will feature extensive green spaces and be built as a completely car-free zone. The attractive design of the neighbourhood, with its generous green spaces, will encourage social interaction and encounters among the new residents.

The SOW consortium had already been awarded the contract for the first construction phase, comprising 342 flats and two childcare centres. Construction of the second phase is expected to begin in June 2022.
