New orders for the Northern Region and Building Maintenance divisions

Eckernförde Naval Base – Refurbishment of the West Pier

The West Mole forms the southern and western boundary of Kranzfeld Harbour at the Eckernförde Naval Base. The structure was built in 1963–64 as a reinforced concrete slab-and-beam structure on driven steel piles; it is 10 metres wide and 470 metres long. Due to severe rusting of the existing sheet pile walls, damage to the concrete and carriageway surfaces, and the technical equipment no longer functioning, the West Pier is undergoing a complete refurbishment.

The construction works are therefore divided into the areas of steel hydraulic engineering, concrete repair and technical equipment.

The contract was awarded to Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG on 17 August 2026. The work is being carried out by the North and Structural Maintenance divisions as a joint project.
