Application of methods

Regionaltangente West

Eingang eines Tunnels unter Gleisen.

The RTW (Regionaltangente West) project is a 50 km long rail infrastructure project that connects Frankfurt with neighbouring cities and the airport. The aim was to use lean methods to make the construction processes more efficient, transparent and reliable in terms of deadlines.

Added value

  • Reduced waiting, travelling and search times

  • Fewer interruptions in the construction process

  • Savings of approx. 32.13 working days

  • Increased labour output

  • Cycle planning and control

Structuring and optimisation of construction processes through defined cycle sections and clear construction sequences.
Result: Construction progress was recorded on a daily basis and schedule reliability was significantly increased. The shortened construction time led to increased productivity.

  • Construction site structuring

Definition of repeatable construction elements and creation of a work distribution diagram to simplify processes.
Result: Improved order and stability of construction processes, clear distribution of tasks and harmonised processes.

  • Digital control communication

Introduction of daily (virtual) meetings and digital platforms for the coordination of all parties involved.
Result: Better collaboration, faster information flows and early problem solving thanks to access to up-to-date data from anywhere.

  • Synchronised logistics and quality assurance

Development of a transport and visualisation concept to ensure material availability and training of subcontractors.
