Application of methods

Mine water channel Ibbenbüren

Mittelschacht aus der Vogelperspektive.

The project comprises the sinking of a centre shaft as a central component of the Ibbenbüren tunnel. The aim was to increase productivity in shaft sinking and to organise work processes more efficiently.

Added value

  • Savings of approx. 40 % of the time required

  • Excavator tunnelling: reduction from 7-8 days to 4-5 days → Savings: approx. 3 days per level

  • Pressure belt: Reduction from 8-10 days to 5-6 days → Savings: approx. 3-4 days per section

  • Multi-torque analysis

Time recording of all processes of the excavator drive and the production of the pressure belt.
Result: Detailed determination of the work content and process times as a basis for optimisation.

  • Cycle planning

Definition of construction phases and repeatable elements as well as creation and harmonisation of the work distribution diagram.
Result: Structured construction process with clear cycle steps.

  • Value stream mapping

Identification of value streams, throughput times and process times as well as detection of waste and waiting times.
Result: Basis for reducing processing times in excavator tunnelling and pressure belting.

  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

Measurement of device utilisation and machine effectiveness.
Result: Effective use of devices and optimisation of task distribution increase OEE
