Technical specifications

Underground stations for the planned Dublin metro are built with diaphragm walls. The „Mater Stop Box“ project is carried out as preliminary works in the direct neighbourhood of the construction of the new Mater hospital. The 1.50 m thick diaphragm wall for the Mater Stop underground station is built using the combined milling and drilling technique down to a depth of 28 m below ground and additionally comprises the improvement of the rock by means of cement injections.

The soil to be loosened consists of glacial deposits down to a depth of 20 m below ground level and below which lies a layer of limestone with a resistance to pressure of up to 250 N/mm². The works comprise approx. 2,500 m² diaphragm walls and 450 m rock boring for injection works.
