The Bremen plant of Daimler AG is Mercedes’ second largest passenger car plant worldwide. In February 2012, Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG, Area North, was awarded the contract for the special foundation and reinforced concrete works for the extension to the south of the existing building 66. The extension of the production facility with a building area of 4,900 m² planned by Daimler was ready for operation as a so-called „TryOut-Center” within the extremely short period of less than one year. The sheet pile walls of the construction pits „TryOut and 11/15“ with a total area of 700 m² were built with the grouting method. For the special foundation works 4,800 m³ were excavated and 5,750 m concrete supporting piles as well as 107 full displacement piles, Ø 44/56 cm built. The reinforced concrete works of the two watertight pits and the construction of the reinforced concrete slab with a total of 420 t reinforcing steel and 3,700 m³ concrete were partly carried out at the same time as the civil engineering works.
