Technical specifications

The façade of this listed farmhouse had to be preserved in its original state. Parts of the interior had also been placed under a preservation order. The reconstruction works to be carried out were planned by the client in coordination with the authority for the protection of historic buildings. The building also contained an archaeological underground monument which meant that it was subjected to a thorough examination and supervision by archaeologists prior to the earthworks being carried out.

The finds and floor structures were catalogued and documented for further information about the settlement in this area. The old farmhouse is divided into two areas, one residential wing with a ground floor, upper floor and attic floor (with commercial space on the ground floor) and an office wing on the upper floor. On the ground floor, a REWE beverage store (supermarket for beverages) is situated. Where the roof was particularly high, additional intermediate levels were installed like galleries to make additional space for residential or other uses. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG was awarded the contract for the turnkey construction as general contractor not including the HVACR system (electrics, sanitary, ventilation) and the outdoor facilities.
