Groundbreaking A 94 motorway

The Federal Minister of Transport, Alexander Dobrindt, the Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery, Marcel Huber and Dr. Wolfgang Wüst, President of Autobahndirektion Südbayern (motorway direction South Bavaria) carried out the groundbreaking ceremony, the symbolic project start for the construction of the A94 motorway. Thessa Menssen, Member of the Board of Royal BAM Group, addressed the audience for the consortium.

As a member of the “Isentalautobahn Consortium”, Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG with the partners Berger Bau, BAM PPP A-Modell Holding GmbH and Eiffage S.A. is building the 33 kilometer long motorway section between Pastetten and Heldenstein, thus closing the gap in the motorway. The scope of works of the PPP project comprises the construction, maintenance and operation of the 77 kilometer long A 94 motorway section between Forstinning and Marktl.

The construction joint venture is building a 33 kilometer long motorway section as well as four large bridges, 24 medium-sized bridges and 29 smaller bridges. Furthermore, four new intersections, two parking areas with toilets and 22,000 square meters of irritation protection and noise protection walls are to be built. The works started at the beginning of February 2016. The section shall be completed by end of October 2019. According to Federal Minister of Transport Dobrindt, public-private partnerships in motorway construction are a success story: "We build fast, economically and to a high standard, thus removing what causes the biggest economic damage: the traffic jam."

Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau has already proved their competency in the realisation of privately financed public infrastructure projects with the construction of the A 8, the first PPP project in Germany, and the A 9 motorway.
